Happy Wednesday! One more day and we are off for eleven. Don't forget that tomorrow is an early dismissal day and Friday is a non-instructional day so the students are not in session. We have had a busy week with inline skating and review in the classroom. To review our division facts, we completed an escape room where we had to solve equations to unlock clues that would save us from melting (we were turned into snowmen). It was challenging but we worked together as a class to complete the challenge! Today we joined a fellow grade 3 class and learned about Ukrainian Pasanky eggs. We got to try out using different patterns on craft eggs of our own!   Updates/Reminders: - Classes resume after Spring Break on April 3rd - Continue with home reading - Prodigy and IXL are great for fact practice

Hello everyone,  I hope the weekend is off to a good start! We finished the week working to publish our most recent piece of writing on our favorite place in the school. These will be going on display around the school in our chosen places. We have also been looking at how different people around the world live and are practicing how to extract important information from a text. Currently, we are focusing on Tunisia. In science, we are beginning to delve further into our building and testing unit. Next week, we will be constructing structures with different bases to test strength and stability. In math, we have learned various multiplication and division strategies and are now working to consolidate our learning. With both of these concepts in mind, some of us are confusing the strategies and operations which is what we will be working through in the upcoming week. See the image below for the differences between these two operations. The labels are only guidelines as there a...

Happy Wednesday, I hope everyone is doing well. A peek inside of our classroom this week: We have also been revisiting what respectful interactions look like this week. Both inside and outside of the classroom, I believe showing respect is imperative to creating a successful and positive learning environment. Feeling safe and secure is foundational to learning. We have discussed and will continue to model positive interactions and problem solving strategies in the classroom. This is a conversation that I encourage our families to continue at home to ensure that these behaviors are being reinforced. Enjoy the rest of the week! Updates/reminders: - Inline skating next week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - Spring break starting next week - last day of class is an early dismissal day on Thursday, March 22 - Scholastic orders due this week! - Fun lunch this Friday! March 16th

Friday

Happy Friday! To find out what we've been learning, you may ask your child the following: - When is division used in daily life? - What is a structure? - What is the engineering process? - What are the important parts of a paragraph?  - Where in the world is Tunisia? Ukraine? India? Peru? Enjoy the weekend and don't forget to adjust your clocks for Daylight Savings! Updates/Reminders: - Fun lunch March 16th - Please send in any paper towel or toilet paper rolls that you may have lying around - If you have not sent in headphones, please do so if possible - they are helpful when we do work on the computers - No school March 23rd - Professional Development Day - Spring break March 26th - April 2nd

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. Ask me what we are doing in the pictures below to find out what we have been discussing in class!     Updates/Reminders: - Order forms for the cards made out of the kids artwork are due on Friday March 9th - Scholastic order forms due Friday March 16th  - Please continue to send in any toilet or paper towel rolls that you may have lying around! I am still collecting them to be used throughout our building unit in science - If you have a spare set of headphones that you could send to school, they are helpful when we are doing research on the computers - I have a few that have been brought in but there are still several students who don't have their own pair - Be sure to read consistently at home - whether that is a home reading book or a book from home :)

Hello everyone! I hope everyone has been staying safe and warm with the wintry conditions outside. This week, we began extending our knowledge of multiplication to division problems and we are off to a good start! In science, we have been discussing various terms such as engineer, structures, and prototypes to kick off the start to our unit on Building with a Variety of Materials. In social studies, we have been practicing how to research and find information on different countries. Meanwhile, in language arts, we have been looking at the structure of an expository piece of writing and practiced writing our own informational piece about our field trip to St. Vladimir's. Enjoy your weekend everyone! Updates/reminders: - Inline skating forms must be returned asap to ensure participation - If interested, please return Scholastic book order forms by March 16th - Fun lunch on March 16th - No school March 23rd - Professional Development Day - Spring Break is comi...
