Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. The goal is to become proficient with at least one strategy! What does good writing look like? This week we practiced these skills by writing about a place (imagined or real) that we would like to travel to. How can you be a problem solver? Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. November 22, 2017 Once again, we have been hard at work this week! In math, we have continually been working on developing our number sense skills and expanding our use of different strategies to solve problems. Each day, we begin with a number of the day which we have been using to answer various questions related to place value. This week we have also continued to practice two and three digit addition through looking at various word problems. Stay tuned for ways to practice these skills at home! I will be adding a few links to the blog under the “math resources” tab later this week. In science, we started a brand new unit on hearing and sound. So far we have been introduced to a few new vocabulary terms including vibration and pitch. Ask me what these words mean and how they are related to hearing and sound!
