Once again, we have been hard at work this week! In math, we have continually been working on developing our number sense skills and expanding our use of different strategies to solve problems. Each day, we begin with a number of the day which we have been using to answer various questions related to place value. This week we have also continued to practice two and three digit addition through looking at various word problems. Stay tuned for ways to practice these skills at home! I will be adding a few links to the blog under the “math resources” tab later this week.

In science, we started a brand new unit on hearing and sound. So far we have been introduced to a few new vocabulary terms including vibration and pitch. Ask me what these words mean and how they are related to hearing and sound! In the next while, we will work to deepen our understanding of these terms by conducting a few experiments to test what we have learned about these terms so far.

During our literacy block this week, we have been working on the concept of show, not tell. Ask me what this means! Check back later this week to see the finished product of the assignment that we have been working on. You can continue to support me at home by reading with me each night and asking me questions about my reading. Why might the characters be acting in a certain way? How do the main events in the story relate to my life? Am I able to make meaningful connections to what I read? Effective readers demonstrate proficiency in areas such as comprehension, accuracy, and fluency.

In addition to all of this, we also celebrated World Children’s Day on Monday! Ask me what I’m working on in the following pictures to find out what we’ve been learning about child rights and the global goals!
