Happy Wednesday,

I hope everyone is doing well.

A peek inside of our classroom this week:








We have also been revisiting what respectful interactions look like this week. Both inside and outside of the classroom, I believe showing respect is imperative to creating a successful and positive learning environment. Feeling safe and secure is foundational to learning. We have discussed and will continue to model positive interactions and problem solving strategies in the classroom. This is a conversation that I encourage our families to continue at home to ensure that these behaviors are being reinforced.

Updates/reminders:
- Inline skating next week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Spring break starting next week - last day of class is an early dismissal day on Thursday, March 22
- Scholastic orders due this week!
- Fun lunch this Friday! March 16th

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. The goal is to become proficient with at least one strategy! What does good writing look like? This week we practiced these skills by writing about a place (imagined or real) that we would like to travel to. How can you be a problem solver? Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
