Updates/Reminders

Hello everyone,

I hope the weekend is off to a good start!

We finished the week working to publish our most recent piece of writing on our favorite place in the school. These will be going on display around the school in our chosen places. We have also been looking at how different people around the world live and are practicing how to extract important information from a text. Currently, we are focusing on Tunisia. In science, we are beginning to delve further into our building and testing unit. Next week, we will be constructing structures with different bases to test strength and stability. In math, we have learned various multiplication and division strategies and are now working to consolidate our learning. With both of these concepts in mind, some of us are confusing the strategies and operations which is what we will be working through in the upcoming week. See the image below for the differences between these two operations. The labels are only guidelines as there are some exceptions to them. We have been looking at examples of where one may use these concepts in their day to day life which is something that I encourage the students to continue at home! You may wish to point out where you use multiplication or division throughout your day.

We also practiced role modeling solutions to various common problems this week, we have some great actors in our class!

 Updates/Reminders:
- Inline skating next week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Spring break starting next week - last day of class is an early dismissal day on Thursday, March 22
