Friday
Happy Friday!
Can you believe it's June already??
We ended the week with a presentation from the Calgary Humane Society and a few review stations.
Over our last month of school, we will be learning about geometry, measurement, and graphing in math while reviewing concepts that we have focused on previously this year. I highly recommend reviewing these skills on IXL as well. Fluency with basic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is essential.
In language arts, we will be reviewing aspects of both expository and narrative writing. This includes how to write a proper paragraph and an understanding of story elements. We will also be reviewing various conventions such as writing with correct punctuation, capital letters, and letter formation. This can also be reviewed at home by writing out a sentence or two and checking them for these conventions. Don't forget to also keep up with reading using reciprocal teaching roles such as summarizing, predicting, clarifying, and questioning!
In science, we will continue to look at animal life cycles and various aspects that are associated with this such as food chains, habitats, and preservation.
In social studies, we will be looking at goods and services. We will also be practicing evaluating ideas and information from different points of view.
Have a great weekend!
Updates/reminders:
- Great Book Exchange Friday June 8th
- Fun lunch June 8th
- Swimming beginning June 11th - we are in need of volunteers! Please email me if you are available
- Learning commons and home reading books due back next week to be reorganized for next year
