Happy Wednesday!

Take a peek inside of our classroom so far this week...
















We had a great trip to Weaselhead park, the weather was beautiful and we learned a lot! Did you know that some trees have a form of sunscreen?? We were amazed by the new information that we discovered. Back in the classroom today, we spent some time researching different mammals and learned what makes a mammal a mammal. Ask me to explain this in detail! We will be learning about other classifications of animals over the next little while as we delve into our unit of study on animal life cycles.

In math, we started reviewing patterns this week. Most of us are fairly comfortable with this concept but we are learning some new terminology. Ask me to explain what an attribute is.

Meanwhile in language arts, we have been practicing how to write an elaborated main event. There are 5 key things that are included in an elaborated main event. Ask me what these are!

Updates/reminders:
- We are currently starting to organize our yearbook photos for the 2017/2018 year.  All children will be included in the yearbook and there is no form to sign for this, however, if you DO NOT want your child in this book, please send a written letter to school stating this.
- Popcorn days - Tuesday May 22nd and Wednesday May 23rd
- No school May 18th or 21st

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
