Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyones week is off to a good start.

We began our week with Music Monday and a very special celebration in the afternoon. A few of our friends were invited to play the drums with our guests and we all participated in a round dance. Ask me to share my thoughts about this experience!

 

We are in the midst of wrapping up a few of the units that we have been working on. We will be moving on to animal life cycles in science and patterning in math. In language arts, we have been discussing story elements and structure. Today, we created an elaborated main event as a class and tomorrow we will begin writing our own. There are 5 key elements to remember when creating an elaborate main event, ask me what these are! 









Updates/reminders:
- Field trip forms went home today - please return asap! We are going to Weaselhead on May 15th
- Stampede breakfast on Friday 8:00-9:30 - families are welcome to attend!

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
