Happy Tuesday!

A peek inside of our classroom so far this week...









Updates/reminders:
- Students are encouraged to wear a hat tomorrow to promote the awareness and importance of good mental health
- Each student has login information for IXL and Prodigy which they can use to practice concepts that we have been learning in math - right now we are focusing on fractions but these websites are also great to review concepts that we have focused on previously (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and so on)
- Razz Kids is available for additional practice with reading - students go to "Kids A-Z" and from there they are able to log in using their information

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. The goal is to become proficient with at least one strategy! What does good writing look like? This week we practiced these skills by writing about a place (imagined or real) that we would like to travel to. How can you be a problem solver? Look under the resource tabs on the blog to gain access to some of the websites that we have explored :) Updates: No school this Friday! Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. You can help to spread this smile by logging onto Twitter and retweeting the tweet linked below. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food. Updates/reminders: - Field trip notice sent home today - please return required forms once completed - No school this Thursday, Friday, or next Monday (February 15th, 16th, and 19th) - Fun lunch on February 23rd - orders must be placed by the 18th - Popcorn days are February...
