Friday
May the 4th be with you (for any of you who may be Star Wars fans).
Hard to believe that another week has come and gone already!
We did a great job opening the volunteer appreciation assembly this morning with a song.
Throughout the week, we have been reviewing fractions with different projects. We put the final touches on our fraction flower garden and are in the midst of completing fraction pizzas. To find out what we have been learning about fractions, ask me the following:
- What is a numerator?
- What is a denominator?
- What is a fraction?
- When the denominators of two fractions are the same, how can you tell which fraction is bigger? For example, is 3/4 smaller than 2/4?
- How can fractions be represented? (Hint: what do fractions of an area/shape, length/number line, and set/group look like?)
In social studies, we have been researching different countries and practicing note taking. See the social studies tab to explore a few of the websites that we have been using in class.
In science, we are in the midst of constructing bridges. Our task is to construct a bridge that can span a 30 cm gap and support a small amount of weight.
In language arts, we have been learning about story elements. Ask me what these elements are (hint: what is introduced in the beginning, middle, and end of a story? We will be putting the elements that we have been learning about into practice next week in our own story writing.
Updates/Reminders:
- Field trip May 15th - more information to come next week
- Continued practice at home - home reading, IXL, Kids A-Z, Prodigy
