Hello everyone,

A peek inside our classroom so far this week...







We have been busy studying the structure of stories and testing out various building designs. We are excited for our field trip tomorrow to further our learning! Don't forget to come prepared tomorrow morning. We will be doing a lot of walking tomorrow so proper shoes, a large lunch, and plenty of water are a must. Our route is as follows:
  • We will be dropped off at "old Firehall #6 downtown and walk on the North side of the river, stopping at the bridges along the way. 
  • We will cross at the Peace Bridge and then go into Prince's Island Park for a snack break.  
  • From there, we'll stay on the south side of the river until we get to St. Patrick's Island. 
  • We will cross there and have lunch in St. Patrick's Island. 
  • We will take some time to reflect and share our learnings before hopping back on the bus at 1:00 from the East Village.

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
