Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

A few new updates:

Tomorrow our school will be participating in Jersey Day in support of the Humbolt players, families, and communities. If you have a hockey jersey that you would like to wear, please do.

Next week on April 16th, we will be going on a Water Walk as it connects to our exploration of the importance of water in our world. We are planning to leave the school at 12:45pm and return for approximately 2:00pm.  Students are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and bring an extra snack for our 5km walk.  Please check out our route through the community on the map below. We are in need of a few volunteers! Please contact me if you are able to join us.

In math this week, we have been using our knowledge of multiplication and division to create our own games. We are excited to display these for conferences next week! Our next focus will be fractions.

In social studies, we have been busy using our research on Tunisia to write expository paragraphs. This will be paired with our one-point perspective artwork of a popular street in Tunisia.

In language arts, we have been practicing multiple reading strategies in our reciprocal teaching groups. Ask me to explain how this works! Many of us have also chosen to write collaborative stories with our classmates during our Daily 5 time which is great practice for our upcoming writing focus. We will be learning how to improve our writing by elaborating and further developing our ideas to create a cohesive story.

In science, we have continued learning about building with and testing various materials. A bridge engineer came into our classroom yesterday and taught us about her line of work and explained the science behind the construction of bridges.

Ask me to explain what is going on in the pictures below:

Reminders:
- Conferences are now able to be booked for next Thursday/Friday
- Home reading
