Happy Wednesday!

We have been hard at work in the classroom this week. Ask me to show you what I've learned about multiplication and to explain what the numbers in a multiplication sentence mean. We have also started the beginning of our building and testing unit in science.

Ask me the following to find what I know:
- What is an engineer?
- Are there different kinds of engineers?
- What do all engineers have in common?




 Reminders:

- Field trip forms must be returned with all of the required components filled in preferably by the end of the week! Our field trip is on Tuesday. Students who do not return these forms or are late on the day of the field trip will unfortunately not be able to attend. Our bus leaves shortly after school begins so you don't want to be late!
- Fun lunch this Friday
- Keep up with home reading! Either a book from school or a book from home will do, the key is to consistently read everyday and to reflect on what the text is about. Proficient readers are not only able to read words accurately but they must also be able to read fluently with expression and comprehend what they read.

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
