Happy Friday!

We ended the week with a busy Flex Friday and Fun Lunch. Always a hit with our students!

Here are a few examples of the art projects that were completed today...



These images will be turned into cards and will be available for purchase within the next while as part of a fundraiser for our school!

Updates/reminders:
- Field trip on Tuesday February 27th - we will be leaving school shortly after the school day begins so you won't want to be late! 
- Popcorn Day February 28th and March 1st
- Pink Shirt Day February 28th
- IXL information was sent home with the students today - this includes a parent letter explaining the program and the students login information. I encourage the students to use it regularly outside of school. It is aligned with the Alberta curriculum and provides great practice! Prodigy, which we started earlier this year, is still another great option for additional practice.
- Book exchange in the Learning Commons on Monday

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. The goal is to become proficient with at least one strategy! What does good writing look like? This week we practiced these skills by writing about a place (imagined or real) that we would like to travel to. How can you be a problem solver? Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. You can help to spread this smile by logging onto Twitter and retweeting the tweet linked below. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
