Hello!

It was so nice to meet so many families over the past few days. I know our students were excited to have their work showcased and shared. Remember that you are always welcome to stop by the classroom or send me an email if you have any questions or concerns. I am happy to help!

We ended our week in the classroom with an introduction to a few new concepts. In math, we are starting to look at multiplication and will be practicing a few different strategies in the coming while. In social studies, we decided on the name for our classroom micronation - "The Land of Kids" - this is a project that we will be using to look at how different countries around the world operate. In creating this micronation, we will essentially be creating our own country to examine the geography, public services, leadership, and decision-making processes of different countries to make decisions that will offer our micronation citizens the best quality of life.

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
