Today we had our first Flex Friday, what a great way to end the week! During this time, all of the classes and grades joined together to work on a collaborative art project that will be displayed in the Embassy. Stay tuned for more pictures to come!


We were also introduced to a new math game that you can try out at home! The game is called “Race to 1000” and targets practice with 3-digit addition. I have included the link to the instructions here https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/FreeDownload/Three-Digit-Addition-and-Subtraction-Race-to-the-Answer-651360. During science, we were able to try out creating sound using a tuning fork. Ask me what happens when a tuning fork is made to vibrate and then placed in water! Next week, we will continue delving deeper into our unit on hearing and sound.

Good evening! I hope everyone is doing well. To discover what we have been learning this week, ask your child all or a few of the following questions: What is sound? How do we hear? What is your favorite addition strategy? Consistent review of these strategies is very important for proficiency. See the previous blog post for the strategies that we have gone over. Where did the time go?!  We had a busy week at Ken Taylor School in preparation for the holiday season but it was a success! Our class did a great job today performing their Hot Chocolate dance during the assembly which was followed by a wonderful morning filled with acts of kindness. The grade 3 team delivered thank you cards for the entire school staff, helped out with organizational tasks around the school, and distributed homemade compliment presents to one another.   We also recently tweeted out a smile on Twitter that we hope to spread to all parts of the world. Hello everyone! We have been hard at work in our classroom from constructing instruments, practicing multiplication, discussing cultural differences, and practicing writing with transition words to help our ideas flow together. Here's a sneak peek from the past few days... Valentine's Day! Just a quick reminder, students are welcome, but not required, to bring in valentines for their peers tomorrow but please ensure that they include everyone in the class to avoid hurt feelings. See the blog post from Friday for a class list. Students are also welcome to bring in a special snack to eat in the afternoon while we read a story. Due to allergies, we will not be sharing any food.
